French doors are installed as a pair & fitted onto hinges which enable them to open outwards or inwards. Patio doors are more of a catch-all term that refers to any set of doors that open directly onto a paved area. This means patio doors can include entries that open with a slide, whereas French doors do not.

uPVC doors are very good at being soundproof due to the conducting properties of the material, but it is good to note that if you live on a busy main road, whilst it may reduce it drastically, it may not eliminate it together.

There are many factors to think of when measuring, and you need to get the height and width from the outside opening correct; you also need to take into account the thickness of the plaster & the floor height too.
